Arcola Broom Palace making progress

ARCOLA, Ill. (WCIA) — Arcola is just a few months away from completing their new Broom Palace.

The mayor said the community is moving in the right direction for revitalizing the downtown area. Officials are hoping the Broom Palace will help bring in thousands of tourists each year.

La Michoacana Rustica is a downtown business that opened up about a month ago. Owner Jose Cantu said they’re looking forward to the heavy traffic.

“It’s very, very good for businesses here in the town, in Arcola,” he said. “Specifically here, because I’m very, very in-front to my job here. But I’m very, very excited.”

The outside of the Broom Palace is scheduled to be finished by the Arcola Broomcorn Festival on Sept. 6 – 8. The building is estimated to be done by the end of the year.
