Forsyth shares update on dispensary ordinance

FORSYTH, Ill. (WCIA) — The Forsyth Board of Trustees have signaled their approval for allowing a marijuana dispensary within their village.

The ordinance would permit the license of one dispensary to open up shop with a dispensary in Forsyth. In addition to the economic activity, the company estimates around 20 jobs will come with the business.

According to Forsyth Village Administrator Jill Applebee, the board voted 4-2 to pass the ordinance at their meeting to amend the village’s code to allow a dispensary within village limits.

The proposal now heads to the Planning and Zoning Committee on Aug. 22, before it goes back to the board of trustees to be discussed at the Sept. 3 board meeting.
