Habitat for Humanity accepting applications for Wheelchair Ramp Program

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Applications are open for Habitat for Humanity’s Wheelchair Ramp Program. The program helps homeowners in need get easier access to their residences.

Applicants must be low-income, live in and own their house, have homeowner’s insurance, and require a wheelchair ramp. Once an application is accepted, volunteers will install a sturdy and reliable wheelchair ramp at the applicant’s home.

Through the program, Habitat also aims to bring awareness to the importance of housing accessibility. If you support this cause, Habitat is looking for volunteers. Visit www.habitatsangamon.com or call 217-523-2710 for more information.

The King’s Daughters Organization sponsors the Wheelchair Ramp Program for individuals 55 years old and older.
