SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Thursday, Utah! Hot and hazy skies for northern Utah again today while moisture remains in southern Utah.
Bottom Line?! Increasing moisture for southern Utah will bring additional thunderstorms this afternoon, moisture will spread into northern Utah over the weekend.
Isolated thunderstorms will pop up throughout the afternoon with flash flooding remaining ‘Possible’ for all recreational areas. Daytime highs will remain slightly above seasonal averages for the state with mid to upper 90s expected along the Wasatch Front, St. George will see temperatures climb to 104.
A westerly flow will spread across the northern U.S., gradually cooling down the region from recent record-breaking temperatures into the weekend. Moisture will also increase across the Beehive State the latter half of Friday and continue over the weekend.
By Sunday, temperatures will return to normal. Moisture will remain in the area through mid-next week, with a chance of strong to severe storms. While afternoon thunderstorms will be possible across the state over the weekend and into the new work week, the highest risk for flash floods will be on Sunday.
Much of the moisture should begin to clear out by midweek and the threat of storms is expected to remain confined to possibly just areas of eastern Utah. Temperatures are forecast to stay close to seasonal averages as well. Stay tuned.
