SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (ABC4) — A new wildfire was discovered in Saratoga Springs on Wednesday, and it quickly grew in size, according to officials.
Just after 5:15 p.m., Saratoga Springs Fire & Rescue posted on social media to alert residents of a fire in Israel Canyon, and officials asked residents to avoid the area. Evacuation orders were not put in place after the fire began.
The Utah Wildfire Dashboard initially reported the fire was burning about one acre.
Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the Utah Wildfire Dashboard was updated to show the fire — which was later named the Clay Pit Fire — was at a size of 200 acres.
The cause of the fire was undetermined as of Wednesday evening, and the fire was not yet contained.
