Utah's new Love Letters Music Festival was canceled -- event organizer explains why

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — At the end of May, the Love Letters Music Festival announced the star-studded lineup for its upcoming September shows — but on Aug. 6, the festival’s social media posted that the Love Letters Music Festival was canceled.

The festival was set to run in Salt Lake City over three days and three nights in September, featuring headliners Joji, Quinn XCII, and Ashnikko. ABC4.com reached out to S&S Presents — the company overseeing the organization of Love Letters — to learn more about why the event was canceled.

Nic Smith, the managing director of S&S Presents, told ABC4.com that the music festival “encountered a few issues that we just weren’t able to resolve.”

“Our team has put a lot of effort into this project and we are very disappointed to be in this position,” Smith said. “We are so thankful to everyone who was supportive of this festival and was hoping to see this succeed.”

Smith said those who bought tickets would receive full refunds, but “a small portion of the service fee” was being used to process the costs of the cancellation of the event.

The ticketing website used for the event said refunds may take up to seven days to be reflected, but would be issued automatically. Refunds were being issued to the same “payment instrument” used to make the purchase.

In its Instagram post announcing the festival’s cancellation, Love Letters said the following:

“With a heavy heart, we are announcing that Love Letters will no onger be able to move forward as planned. This is something we have wanted to bring to Salt Lake City for so long and we are sorry this dream could not become a reality. Refunds will be processed automatically from 24tix.com.”

Statement from Love Letters Music Festival

“I cannot say yet if Love Letters will be happening in 2025, but we are big fans all of the artists on this lineup and are hoping to bring them to SLC in some capacity in the near future,” Smith said.
