Looking for work? More than 1,500 opportunities available at Utah virtual job fair

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Utah Department of Workforce Services will be hosting a statewide virtual job fair with more than 1,500 open positions needing to be filled in several different fields.

The free-to-attend job fair will open on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and can easily be attended through a computer or smartphone. Job seekers will find 40 Utah employers offering positions in health care, machinery manufacturing, transportation, education, banking, sales, government, aerospace and defense, and more.

“With Utah’s continued strong job market, there are many opportunities for Utahns to find a new job or take the next step in their careers,” said Liz Carver, the director of Workforce Development. “The virtual job fair offers a convenient way to browse job postings, share your resume, and engage with employers to learn more about companies across the state. We encourage anyone interested in finding new opportunities to attend the event.”

Job seekers joining the virtual fair should come prepared with their resume and a professional photo uploaded to their online profile. Attendees will be able to see a digital floor plan with rows of booths representing different employers.

Workforce Services said clicking on a booth will present attendees with the company’s profile, open positions, and links to their social media. They can also start a live chat with a representative, and share their resume. Employers can then schedule an interview, do a one-on-one chat, or even offer a job on the spot.

Anyone interested in attending the virtual job fair is encouraged to pre-register and create an account or sign in to “my Job Search” on the Workforce Services website.

In addition to the virtual job fair, Workforce Services will be offering two online workshops on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The first will be at 10 a.m. and the second is scheduled for 1 p.m. Both are designed to help job seekers get the most out of the virtual fair.
